Steve Reich’s Clapping Music App Reviews

One of my favorites

As a former percussionist, it is my duty and pleasure to love this app. I even developed a technique so that I can use larger muscles for more accurate tapping. I hold my phone in my left hand and rest the right side of the phone on the second knuckle of my right index finger. I then rotate from the elbow to tap the screen with my right thumb (similar to Stevens grip). Anyway, this “game” is beautifully designed and a joy to play.

A hint

Did this piece in percussion ensemble last year. Switching to the next level just means youre dropping the rest in between the last two 8th notes and the first three, so instead of going 123-12-1-12-123... youd do 123-12-1-12123... when the bar shows up.

Very difficult

Great for improving your poly-rhythm skills

Harder than it sounds

This is not an easy app. Its rewarding, but not easy.

Great for improving rhythm

Really addicting. I feel like it has a lot of educational potential in a music classroom or something. Its not only fun, but feels productive.

Amazing

Thank you for making this great free app! This is a chance to perform a challenging rhythmic composition with Steve Reich.

Best app!!

I absolutely love this! So much fun! Just got it an hour ago and I am already going to the hard level. I love this!!

No notation

Man this (like so many rhythm games) could be so fun if it just included traditional Western notation! I suppose the dots are for accessibility but Im too lazy to relearn something I spent 30 years learning already ;-)

Involves ZERO clapping

I was really confused the first few times I tried to use this app. I was clapping along with the pattern exactly and still getting 0 points. Then for some reason it finally dawned on me to try tapping on the screen. Why call an app "clapping" if there is no clapping involved? Thats just stupid. Call it TAPPING.
